When people try to learn to converse in different cultures other than thier own, one of reasons could be because thier partners are interested and they just want to catch up.
Thier information could also be from any online resource. The level of attachment could differ from media hype, news, to "it is like 'I have nothing against it but that's not my liking'.
It is a minefield of various things that cultural differences exposes.
For instance, someone could be announcing in a local language that they are engaged after a wedding ceremony , a local custom. (it could happen...ha ha).
Misspellings happen everyday when not written in thier own language. For instance - Mardani ('manly woman') in hindi could mean different when typed Maar dani ('kill donor').
If you are not the intended audience, you mention it not and don't spoil the fun till the right time. This included are a lot of nuances to life where impatient optimism takes its toll.
